While unpacking the individual technologies is somewhat complex , the philosophy of Progressive Energy Home Design is pretty simple: plan the space you are designing to live in, with a 25 year mindset perspective.
Plan the architecture, construction or remodel as though you were laying the groundwork for changes you envision yourself making throughout the ownership of the home. In essence the goal is to future-proof your home’s design so that the smarts are built in the foundation upon which electrical upgrades can be made, even the upgrades you may not see yourself making for 5-10 years (like electric vehicle charging capabilities-although MOST homes are making this upgrade now).
The electrical contributions of design are often the impetus for the projects themselves; as curious as it may sound many homeowners that we talk to, whether contacting us via a builder they are working with or a remodeling company who’s referred us, have energy goals as a primary focus to their project design. In brainstorming sessions with homeowners we tend to uncover three areas of progressive energy design: energy independence, energy delivery for vehicles, and energy storage/back-up.
